About the Conference

The 11th International Scientific Conference in Tourism and Hospitality, SITCON 2026, will be held at Singidunum University in Belgrade on October 22, 2026.

The main topic of this year’s conference is:

Play. Travel. Connect. - Interdisciplinary Approaches to Tourism, Sport and Events

SITCON 2026 continues the tradition of promoting scientific research and practical solutions in tourism and hospitality, with this year’s focus on the growing interconnection between tourism, sport, events, media, and experience design in an increasingly dynamic and interconnected world.

Organized by Singidunum University, the conference aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among academia, industry professionals, and policymakers. In the context of rapid technological change, evolving consumer behavior, global mobility, and increasing demands for sustainability and resilience, SITCON 2026 will explore innovative and interdisciplinary approaches shaping contemporary travel experiences, event participation, and destination development.

The conference provides an opportunity for researchers and stakeholders from the hospitality industry, event and sports sectors, destination management organizations, creative industries, and communication and media sectors to exchange knowledge, discuss current trends, and share innovative practices and research findings. Through the conference topic, SITCON 2026 will examine how tourism, sport, and events contribute to social interaction, cultural exchange, community development, destination branding, and experiential consumption, while creating new opportunities for sustainable growth and international connectivity.

SITCON 2026 will include expert panels and industry-oriented discussions designed to connect academic knowledge with practical experience. These sessions will provide opportunities for tourism professionals, event organizers, sports organizations, destination managers, and other industry representatives to present case studies, discuss current market trends, and exchange practical insights and innovative approaches relevant to contemporary tourism and hospitality practice.

In addition to the expert panels, the conference will feature scientific sessions dedicated to current research and theoretical advancements, as well as expert panel discussions addressing topics such as sports tourism, event management, digital transformation, audience engagement, destination experiences, creative industries, sustainable mobility, experiential marketing, and interdisciplinary collaboration in tourism development.

Through its multidisciplinary and international approach, the conference aims to encourage critical thinking, knowledge exchange, and cooperation among different sectors, while highlighting the role of tourism, sport, and events as drivers of innovation, connectivity, cultural understanding, and sustainable development.

All accepted manuscripts will be published in the Conference Proceedings, providing authors with the opportunity to disseminate their research to a wider academic and professional community.

Exceptional papers presented at SITCON 2026 may be recommended for publication in the European Journal of Applied Economics (M24), offering further visibility and recognition within the field.
