The 10th International Scientific Conference in the field of Tourism and Hospitality, SITCON 2025, was held at Singidunum University in Belgrade on October 16, 2025. The main topic of this year’s conference was:

“Tourism for People, Planet and Prosperity – What needs to happen by 2030?”

Marking its jubilee edition, the conference celebrated a decade of academic excellence and professional exchange, emphasizing the importance of aligning tourism development with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the context of the 2030 agenda.

The conference served as an important platform for critical reflection and forward-looking dialogue on how tourism can become more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient in the face of global challenges. It gathered representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia, Air Serbia, as well as numerous tourism enterprises, hotels, associations, and academic institutions, thereby strengthening cooperation between the public, private, and academic sectors.

The scientific and professional programme addressed key topics shaping the future of tourism, including sustainable destination development, responsible travel behavior, digital innovation, circular economy practices, community empowerment, and ethical governance in tourism systems. Two thematic panels were held, focusing on the integrated strategic development of tourism in Serbia towards 2030 and on mechanisms of horizontal and vertical integration within the tourism sector.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. Miloš Bujišić, Ph.D. (NYU School of Professional Studies, United States), titled “AI and the Human Factor: Rethinking Digital Transformation in Tourism and Hospitality”, highlighting the balance between technological innovation and the human dimension in tourism and hospitality. The scientific session was moderated by Prof. Aleksandra Vujko, Ph.D., and Prof. Aleksa Panić, Ph.D., and included presentations of scientific papers followed by discussions on contemporary research and trends in the field.

The SITCON 2025 review process was conducted by a team of 56 reviewers, including professors from Singidunum University as well as experts from other universities, research institutions, and professional organizations from Serbia and abroad. The process was coordinated by a 25-member Organizing Committee, which ensured the successful implementation of the conference. A total of 29 papers were submitted, out of which 19 papers and abstracts were accepted for presentation and publication in the Conference Proceedings, while 10 submissions were rejected due to not meeting the required quality standards.

The conference gathered more than 420 participants from Serbia, including university professors, researchers, industry experts, and students, once again confirming SITCON as an important meeting point for academia, industry, and governmental institutions with a shared goal of advancing sustainable tourism development towards 2030.
