SITCON 2016

The second international scientific conference in the field of tourism and hospitality SITCON 2016 (Singidunum International Tourism Conference) was held on September 30, 2016.

Upon the opening ceremony, Harald Pechlaner, PhD, President of AIEST (International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism) and professor at Catholic University of Eichstaett-Ingolstadt, Germany; Rob Davidson, PhD, Managing director of MICE Knowledge and Nemanja Stanišić, PhD, full professor at Singidunum University delivered compelling and valuable introductory lectures.

The remaining part of the conference was carried out through five parallel sessions, during which the authors presented their respective papers.

Over 145 professors, scientific workers, tourism and hospitality experts, students, and representatives of the tourism industry attended SITCON 2016.

Over 40 papers are presented at this year’s conference. Authors of the papers are from the following countries: Serbia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Slovenia, Turkey.

Awards for the enhancement of the quality of tourism offer of the City of Belgrade “Singidunum Pobednik” (Singidunum Winner) are awarded on this year’s conference in the following categories: hotels, restaurants and incoming travel agencies in Belgrade.

The conference has also drawn a considerable number of teachers from vocational secondary schools, based on the accreditation issued by the Institute for Advancing Education and Upbringing, by which SITCON 2016 is recognised as a valid form of professional training.
