Professor emeritus at Singidunum University
Prof. Slobodan Unkovic currently holds the title of professor emeritus at Singidunum University in Belgrade.
He graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade in 1961, where he also obtained his master’s and doctoral degree in 1963 and 1966, respectively. He started working as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade in December 1961, and was soon appointed assistant professor and associate professor. In 1980, he was promoted to the rank of full professor at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade.
He was the rector of University of Belgrade, dean of the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade, dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Singidunum University, and head of the Department of postgraduate studies and international cooperation, Singidunum University.
He is an UNWTO expert and member of the International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism. He is the former president of the scientific council of the Ministry of Tourism of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. He currently holds the position of deputy chairman of the Tourism Council of the Republic of Serbia.
His further studies included specialisation at Stanford University in the USA and other universities in the UK, Italy and numerous other countries.
He is a holder of numerous local and international awards. He holds the title of emeritus professor at Lomonosov University in Moscow and Renmin (People's) University of China, and is an honourable doctoral degree holder at Lincoln University, USA and Mediterranean University in Montenegro.
He is an author and co-author of numerous scientific papers and publications in the area of economics, management and tourism and hospitality. One of his most relevant publications is the course book entitled “Economics of Tourism”, which was translated into English and Chinese.
